Dress of the Day - La Femme 15085 - Elegant Chiffon

I'm not sure why I love this dress, but I do. The moment I saw it, it struck me as so elegant. Simple and classy, but just enough style to stand out. I love the rhinestone detailing and the layered A-line skirt. ALL the colors are fab!

Crazy Customer Story - Cheerleader (aka Prom) Spirit!

One day we had a group of three cheerleaders from a local high school come into the store. They were super pumped to start their prom dress shopping! We were just as excited to have them so we asked what they were looking for. "We want MATCHING dresses!!," was their response. Haha, well, there's a first time for everything! :)

It was so funny to see them trying on all kinds of styles trying to decide on the perfect dress for the group. In the end they decided to go with different, but complimentary styles. Probably a good choice. I'm sure they were a hit at the prom!

Dress of the Day - Mori Lee 8420 - Flattering Lace-up

I'm a HUGE fan of lace-up, corset back gowns!! If you're (even slightly) unproportional, these dresses will give you a good fit. Easily allow for a more padded bra, don't worry about gaining a pound, and get a tigher or loser fit if you prefer. Yeah, they're pretty great!

This prom dress by Mori Lee comes in hot colors for spring 2010 (I especially love the purple) and has a really flattering silhouette. The gathered bodice and waist hide imperfections and the flaired skirt makes it easy to move in. You can get this dress here for under $280!

Shop Early
It may seem crazy to shop for a spring prom dress in the dead of winter, but that's when you should start. Prom shops start getting their spring shipments in as early as October. By December, they generally have a good portion of their stock. If you're among the first to shop, the you get the best selection, bottom line!

Special ordering dresses, especially when you buy online, is available too, but dresses can sell out at anytime. Planning to order "later", may mean that you miss out on your perfect dress. If you special order, do it early.

Believe it or not, prom dresses sell out as early as January. Some dresses can be made for you, but it may take a couple months to get them. Ordering time lines for any dress can get complicated, so once you find a couple styles you like, you should check with your store to see when you can them.

If you think there is even a slim chance that you'll be attending prom this year, then start your search... a date can always come later!

Let's be honest, the shopping part of prom is one of the most important parts. That's where all this comes together! If I don't include info. and tips about where to shop for the dresses I'm featuring, I don't feel like I'm giving you the whole picture. Plus, I've shopped around and I know what websites I like and would recommend. I know a lot about the good prom websites out there and I won't steer you wrong!

Most of the sites I'll be recommending are part of a fantastic group called the Prom Websites Association. These are the top websites for prom dresses on the web - they are experienced, trust-worthy, and sell some seriously beautiful gowns.

Dress of the Day - Blush 9083 - Short & Sweet

If you haven't heard of Blush prom yet, you should check them out! They are new for 2010 from Alexia Designs and were instantly popular when they debuted this winter. They have really cute dresses and some great original designs.

This cute short prom dress is THE MOST popular one so far. I'm not sure what it is that makes this dress so perfect, but it is simple, flattering, feminie and has a little bit of a couture edge... and a touch of sparkle. Maybe the perfect combo! What do you think?
