Prom Tip # 102

Dress for YOUR body.

Ok, so this may seem like a no brainer, but it's harder to do than it sounds. You look at magazines, online, and on the racks at the prom store and see hundreds of amazing dresses that would look great... on someone. But, you have to stop and think about what will look best on you - what will flatter your figure, fit your personality, makes you comfortable, and that makes you happy!

Think about what clothing styles fit you best and try to find those elements in a dress. ie: A full skirt to hid larger hips, a mermaid shape to emphasize a small waist or a halter to support a large bust.

Remember how you want to feel on prom night. If you are self conscious about your stomach, and choose a clingy dress, you'll be uncomfortable all night and won't enjoy yourself. Choose a stiff material like taffeta with a lace-up back and cinch yourself in so you can relax and dance without fear of jiggle...ahh!

Wear what you love! Just because a dress is plastered on the cover of a magazine, doesn't mean it was meant for you. The hottest designer may have styles that just don't do a thing for your figure. Choose what YOU like, in a color that makes you light up and it will show!

I've got the scoop that there is a fantastic new tool coming to a prom dress website that will help you shop by your body type to find a dress to fit. I can't wait to try it! More details coming soon...
