Prom Tip #104

Wear what you like.

Trends, fashion and peer pressure play a huge role in choosing a prom dress for most girls. This is fine, as long as you never forget to choose a dress that you truly love! When you are trying on gowns, think ultimately of your comfort. Both: "how comfortable am I in this dress?" (literally can you breathe and move?) and "how do I feel in this dress?" (do you feel confident and at ease).

If you choose a dress just because it looked hot in a magazine, that doesn't mean it's really the dress for YOU. You must be able to breathe, sit, move and of dance (remember that prom is generally a dance ;))! You also want to feel like yourself, just a little fancier. Don't stray so much out of your comfort zone that you're worried about your chest hanging out, feeling exposed, or that you're dressed like a doll-or a clown. Tugging and re-adjusting your dress all night is not becoming or fun. Feeling silly won't make you have a good time either.

So, have fun, try on all kinds of dresses to find the one that really fits your body, your style, and your personality. Prom is all about having the night of your life. The dress is a big part, but enjoying yourself is the most important part!
